What is API Integration?

An API (Application Programming Interface) integration is a technical connection between two software systems that enables them to share data automatically, without manual export/import steps.

Explanation

APIs are the standard mechanism for connecting modern software. When two systems are API-integrated, they can exchange data in real time: a new invoice in your accounting automation platform triggers an automatic push to your ERP; a payment processed in your banking platform automatically updates your AP records. For accounting teams, API integrations replace the manual processes of exporting files, manipulating data in Excel, and re-importing — reducing both the labor involved and the errors introduced at each transfer step.
